The important thing is it must be an ISO, and not any other format (no bin/cue, no mdf/mds, etc). There are plenty of tools and methods to do this, so I won't cover it here.

Other Linux users, you'll need to find a way to install Sun's Java on your system (don't use other Java like icedtea or blackdown).Ģ) Take your original PS2 disk, and make it an ISO. Ubuntu users install sun-java6-jre and sun-java6-bin packages. Mac users should have it as part of their default install.
To play backups, you need to do the following:ġ) If you don't already have it, install Java on your machine. You should see the FreeMCBoot logo, and a new menu. Not that it's bad, just that they can't guarantee what will happen.Ħ) Now take your freshly installed mcboot memory card, stick it in a virgin PS2 and power up. It's recommended not to use freemcboot to boot an already hardware modded PS2 by the authors. There is also a "format memory card" tool you can use if your card doesn't have enough free space, and you don't want to save what's on the card.ĥ) It'll take a few moments. Make sure that you remove all memory cards other than the one you want to install mcboot on (if you're booting from mcboot already, obviously you'll need two cards installed - your boot card, and your to-be-installed-card).Ĥ) Follow your nose, and choose "install", picking the card you want to install on.
The MCBoot authors recommend a genuine Sony card, but if you use a third party one and it works, please let us know in this thread.ģ) Find a PS2 that can boot homebrew CDs (modchipped, SwapMagic, or already using mcboot), and boot the burned CD.

Burn the ISO to a CD-ROM.ģ) Find a PS2 memory card with at least 3MB of free space.
1) Decompress the 7-Zip file ( Windows, Mac, Linux users install "p7zip" from your package manager)Ģ) Inside is an iso file, and a jar file.
